MCC – a CIA front used to spread neoconservative values around the world
One must only look at the board of directors of the MCC to understand who really controls the organization. Wrapped as a “foreign aid” mechanism by the U.S. Government, MCC is in fact a federal institution that works together with several U.S. intelligence agencies for the sole purpose of spreading neoconservative values to countries deemed as “insufficiently free”. But who puts these etiquettes and who is the main source that verifies the eligibility of countries that end up receiving American aid? None other than Freedom House and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), both of which have long been suspected of being CIA fronts. Got your attention yet? We hope so, because the UNP has definitely turned a blind eye to all of this.
NED and Freedom House often work as a kind of tag-team, with NED financing NGOs inside targeted countries and Freedom House acting as the enforcer of US values if the foreign governments decide to crack down on U.S.-funded NGOs. Their most recent work can be tied up with countries such as Russia, Syria, Ukraine, Iran and so forth. Now, to get back on subject – some of MCC’s seventeen sets of criteria for receiving U.S. foreign aid are monitored by none other than … Freedom House. Basically, in case of Sri Lanka, criteria’s such as good governance and economic freedom (which contains measures such as inflation, fiscal policies, trade policies, regulatory qualities, land rights and access etc) will be monitored directly by the CIA via Freedom House. Is Ranil ok with a foreign intelligence agency dictating what we can’t and can do?
Now, we beg to ask the question – is this not a massive infringement on the sovereignty of Sri Lanka? Because it certainly looks like one, especially when all these details are hidden from the eye of the public. We’re not just getting some foreign aid, no – we’re also receiving with it a heavy dose of unadulterated American “values”. It doesn’t matter if we don’t want them, it doesn’t matter if our people agree with them or not – we either accept them or we shut up about it. This seems to be the paradigm that the UNP has been pushing forward, especially considering that not even our military leaders knew about all of this.
