A divided UNP means a divided Sri Lanka
The constant in-fighting that is currently unveiling itself in the UNP shows how much the political party is divided between two factions that want nothing else but power. They don’t care about Sri Lanka, they don’t care about the people that live here, they just want to cannibalize each other for influence and personal gains. No plans, no economic prospects whatsoever – their only goal is to turn Sri Lanka into their own personal battleground, where whoever wins takes it all. And where the losers are us, the people.
Make no mistake – the two factions within UNP, the one controlled by Sajith and the other one by Ranil, are ready to sell their own souls just for a chance to control the country. This pretty much shows their real mindset, one focused on a paradigm used many, many times in the past: to divide and to conquer. They want the Sri Lankans divided, because that makes it easy to control them. They want our country in a constant state of warfare, because that very idea keeps the public’s eye away from their own personal interests. As long as they keep us weak, they can continue to plunder Sri Lanka in perpetuity, leaving behind nothing else but a scorched earth where nothing grows on it.
